Competitive football in Torpoint will now all come under the umbrella of the town's senior team Torpoint Athletic, following last weeks Youth AGM. The Youth setup provides league football for approximately eighty boys, and all will now take to the field proudly wearing the badge of Torpoint Athletic FC. Below is a statement from Youth Chairman Charlie Dye.
From the Chairman of the Youth Charlie Dye:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Torpoint & Antony Youth FC held its AGM last week and one of the items on the agenda was a change of name, this was to Torpoint Athletic Youth Football Club, which was passed unanimously. This has been long over due, and now we in partner with the senior sides can offer competitive football to teams from the Under 11's to the Veterans, all under the umbrella of Torpoint Athletic. In conjunction with the Club Chairman Chris Harris I look forward to the new beginning and working with all members of the committees for the benefit of the Club and Players.
The Chairman of Torpoint Athletic, Chris Harris made the following comment:
This in my opinion is a big step for the club and great news. We now have teams feeding through from under 11's and this will encourage player loyalty and give the club a big shot in the arm.
