. Torpoint Athletic FC 2007 and the last game of the season for Torpoint must surely be one of the most dramatic and important games in its history. The South Western League and Devon County League are due to amalgamate the following season forming the New Peninsula League. The critreria for entering the new league is simple. Finish in the top half of your current league and your in. Finish below that and you're out. So cut to the last day of the season and Torpoint are away at Penryn in the South Western League. Only a win is good enough to finish in the top half and with the clock ticking down it's level at 2-2. As things stand it's Newquay who will qualify for the final CSWPL spot at the expense of Torpoint who look to spending next season in Division One West. Football however is nothing if not dramatic, cruel and just occasionally complete and utter bliss, and so it was as Darren Hicks slotted home in the last minute to the delight of the travelling away support. The importance of that goal and that win cannot be understated as Torpoint's 1st team entered a new era of step 6 football in the Non League Pyramid. Not only did it see the team playing at the level it desired but began a process that has seen the club and ground go from strength to strength culminating with the installation of floodlights in 2009. Below are the details of the team, including pictures, fixtures and results and current league position. Here's hoping for a successful 2011/12 season!
